Total to present its Research & Development expertise at RDPETRO 2018

ADNOC is hosting RDPETRO 2018, the world’s largest R&D conference and exhibition for oil and gas on May 9 and 10 at ADNEC (www.rdpetro.org).

Qasem Al Kayoumi, Chairman RDPETRO 2018 and ADNOC’s Technical Center Unit Manager, reiterates that RDPETRO 2018 will be an opportunity for all innovators to come to Abu Dhabi and present their research, showcase latest technology, and learn from worldwide industry leaders and secure funds to develop their R&D projects.

The event aims at showcasing the most advance technology and research results answering Oil & Gas industry challenges. It is being modelled in such a way that it turns out to be the HUB for the oil and gas industry and it fosters closer collaboration with technology innovators, start-ups and academia.

At RDPETRO 2018, Total experts are giving 5 oral presentation and also co-signing 1 e-Poster.

The 2-day event will include:

  • A Technical Programme of scientific conferences (48 oral presentations within 16 sessions + posters)
  • A Chief Technical Officers Summit with representative from companies discussing on "Disrupting the O&G industry through Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence".  For Total, Dr. Vincent Saubestre "Research & Development Total S.A., Strategy & Intelligence" will be a speaker at this session on May 9th at 11:30 am, Main Conference Hall.

Total, as a Platinum Sponsor, will have a dedicated stand at the exhibition hall showcasing the following Subjects:

  • METIS (Multiphysics Exploration Technology Integrated System): A disruptive R&D project to revolutionize land seismic acquisition.  This R&D project is dedicated to enabling onshore seismic acquisition in hard-to-access parts of the globe. METIS, for Multiphysics Exploration Technology Integrated System, deploys innovative airborne technologies to reduce the environmental impact of operations while enhancing safety.
  • ALBION (R&D project on Carbonate Reservoir): The ALBION project applies a new and disruptive methodology of reservoir characterization to the carbonate Urgonian Formation (South-East France) considered as the very best analogue of Mid Cretaceous reservoirs from Middle East. Through the building of an observatory in the heart of a reservoir, the ALBION project is delivering advanced concepts and methodologies to apply to industrial projects in Middle East carbonate fields.
  • Enhanced Oil Recovery: Boosting oil recovery factors in carbonate reservoirs has major implications for Total E&P. After several months of research, the Lacq-based R&D hub PERL has successfully developed, in particular, “customized” polymer molecules suitable for the high salinity and high temperature levels frequently encountered in the reservoirs in the UAE. In addition, specific surfactant for CO2 foaming was also developed for potential EOR applications in Middle East region.
  • CSTJF: The Centre Scientifique et Technique Jean Féger (CSTJF) in Pau, is a scientific research pole, a centre of technological excellence, and a mine of international skills. It also hosts a part of the Exploration & Production headquarters. You can discover advanced technologies, a powerful high-performance computing center (HPC), top level E&P experts, 5.000 m2 of laboratories, a display wall allowing 4D seismic interpretation. The CSTJF represents all Total’s technological expertise and know-how, contributing to its notoriety and business development.
